The Weary Soul

By George MacDonald

The weary soul is resting, In the arms of gentle sleep. The cares of life are fading, And the heart no longer weeps. The weary soul is dreaming, Of a land so far away. A land of peace and beauty, Where the night is turned to day. The weary soul is longing, For the rest that never ends. A rest in heaven's glory, Where the soul no longer bends. The weary soul is waiting, For the call to heaven's gate. A call to endless joy, Where the heart no longer waits.
