A Valentine

By Clement Clarke Moore

While we, my dear, as social friends, The pleasing task pursue, Of kindred souls, whose wish it tends, Their happiness to woo. In songs of love, we'll join the strain, And hail the festive day; While warm affection shall maintain The friendship of our lay. Then drink, my friends, the goblet round, Nor give to care a thought; But let the rosy hours be crown'd With what the heart has sought.
